: thank you, mr. speaker. mr. speaker, since obamacare implementation began on october 1, the president has spent much f his time talking about the malfunctioning website. however, i would remind the president of his own words several weeks ago. obamacare is more than just a website. the website was supposed to be the easy part. and the more people sign on to it, they will be made aware of the real problems with obamacare. in fact, when the millions of americans currently losing their health care plans try to log on will be care.gov, they met with drastically increased emiums, skyrocketing out-of-pocket cost, and reduced access to the doctors and hospitals they know. these problems are in direct contrast to the repeated promises made by the president. my constituents are rightly concerned with these broken promises and they are regularly contacting me and my office to voice their concerns. for instance, gillian in sparta, tennessee, wrote to me, and i quote, every year in the past my health care insurance has increased by small percentages. sometimes 5%, sometimes by 7%. this past week

on the minds of america right now, as they witness the utter disaster of a rollout of obamacare. as the gentleman knows, his constituents as well as mine, are faced with higher premiums, faced with the realization now that the president has broken a major promise. when he had said to the american people that they could keep their health care plans if they liked it. and we know now that wasn't true. so people are having to go and figure out what kind of plans are actually there for them. the administration has claimed this week the website is working just fine. we know good and well the back end of that website is not working just fine. i'm glad that people are able, maybe, to get on and see what's there. we don't really know because of the lack of transparency as to how successful the signups and enrollments are being. we do know, though, that most americans in the individual plan arena are facing higher premiums . those that have had to give up their plans are facing higher premiums, and plans that they don't necessarily choose that they are now forced to have because of the op

[laughter] it is that they do not get the right senators. the business would be run this way because you would be run out of business immediately. we have put into law perverse incentives. insurance had cheap no longer can buy that. it is what they could afford and that is the only way they had it. i was one of them. i used to have family coverage for five people, for $5,000. a $5,000 deductible. in obamacare, you can have a higher detectable and still pay higher dollars because there is a mandate because intuit. the problem is the insurance company is never going to offer those policies again because they are told within a year if you delay it for year, then a year everyone will be forced to buy the new policies. which are more expensive. let's say you sell bread and you sell for a dollar a loaf, and they say, we'

health insurance plans. this report shows the average deductible for individuals under obamacare's lower priced bronze plan is more than $5,000 a year and also claims the average deductible for individual plans before much of the law went into effect was just about 3-1/2 thousand dollars. the deadline to apply for own kaz is two weeks away. we're learning a new feature that just went live at healthcare.gov. >> for the first time without an account or password you can see your deductible and all out of pocket costs on a screen that shows your premium, but just because the numbers are easy to fine doesn't mean they're easy on the bank account because the average deductible that pops up is 42% higher than it used to be. that's what the study fund looking at 34 states on the marketplace. now some tech experts are saying this window shopping feature doesn't help healthcare.gov run any better. >> doesn't change the overall flow of the web site itself. they're trying to put together and piece together a lot of different things to make the web site functional or look like they're continuing to m

to be an attempt to do something. by the way republicans are saying this is an attempt to distract from obamacare. >> it is a long-term interest of his. the one-- to put an idea on at againa is usually what a president does in the 8th year of his presidency, not in what are we, the 6th or something, 5th. so he should still be focus on things about which he has actual action items. rather than just putting something on the agenda. do that later in the term but because of the stagnation in washington and in congress, i think he's decided to just be a more rhetorical president. just on the one point about the income inequality. if are you talking about the top 1%, i agree with mark, there has been this ridiculous increase in wages, ridiculous compensation screams on wall street, a lot of the socialization of profit. privatization of profits, socialization of risk. but if you are talking about the top 20% or top 30%, there i think you have a structural problem that ed kated people have become really good at marrying other educated people and passing their advantages. and i don't think you can do much
